Additional Costs

Extra costs not included:
  • Uniform (If buying a full, new uniform NZ $680 maximum) Second-hand uniforms may be
  • available for hire for a small fee.
  • NCEA entry fee $383.30 (For Years 11, 12 and 13 students only)
  • Entry fees to other external examinations and awards (E.g. IELTS, TOEIC)
  • Course costs, charge for materials (eg. Woodwork, Art, approximately NZ $100)
  • Course related trips and camps (For some subjects)
  • Stationery, includes subject workbooks (allow $200)
  • Personal spending money


Accommodation 
$215.00 per week

Includes a single furnished room, three meals a day seven days a week. Please note that if staying in our school hostel, the room may be shared.

Insurance
It is a condition of enrolment that students have adequate medical and travel insurance. Please see below. Insurance can be arranged by the College through two companies: Southern Cross Travel Insurance, and Unicare (Travel and Medical up to NZ $530 for 12 months) or you may purchase your own insurance in your home country, however, you must provide us with a copy of the policy in English.

All fees must be paid before the student can be accepted at Wanganui City College, and a visa can be obtained.

International students (including group students) must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while in New Zealand. 
    (a) the student’s travel:- 
        (i) to and from New Zealand; and 
        (ii) within New Zealand; and 
        (iii) if the travel is part of the course, outside New 
                Zealand; and 

    (b) medical care in New Zealand, including diagnosis,                   prescription, surgery and hospitalization; and 

    (c) repatriation or expatriation of the student as a result of 
            serious illness or injury, including cover of travel costs 
            incurred by family members assisting repatriation or 
            expatriation; and 
    (d) death of the student, including cover of – 
        (i) travel costs of family members to and from New 
            Zealand; and 
        (ii) costs of repatriation or expatriation of the body; and 
        (iii) funeral expenses
