Wanganui City College has made considerable progress in developing a robust, sustainable Digital Technology program , with emphasis on quality outcomes by the students. The School has invested heavily in quality hardware and network infrastructure, which enhances classroom learning throughout the school. 

The types of activities the student undertake include spreadsheet, web design, document design, programming, video and multi media presentations. Along side students attaining practical skills in the use of various software programs, Wanganui City College ICT department promotes a problem solving approach to activities, that enable the students to develop realistic outcomes to meet the needs of real clients.

Assment oppertunities are drawn from the generic Technology Curriculum and the Digital Technology Curriculum. Level 1 NCEA being a combination of internal and external achievement standards. Level 2 and 3 NCEA using a combination of internal unit standards and achievement standards
