Wanganui City College has an 89 year history of educating students from outside of New Zealand.
We have had students from Fiji, Nauru, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Bahrain, Taiwan, China, South America, Niue, Cook Islands, Samoa, The Solomons, Sarawak, America, Switzerland, the USA, Brazil, Germany, Britain, Indonesia, India, Argentina and Denmark. Hundreds of overseas students have been educated at the college and have gone onto successful careers.
Introduction
Wanganui City College is a challenging, exciting and supportive place where students from all parts of the world feel valued and respected. We are a smaill, multi-cultural, co-educational school of approximately 500 students. Because we are a small school, we are able to foster a family orientated environment. We pride ourselves on our ability to care for and nurture every student in our school and encourage all students to participate in extra-curricular activities such as sport, music or cultural groups. Additionally we boast high levels of academic achievement.
Wanganui is a small, safe community, with many amenities focussed on providing pastimes for the district’s teenagers.

Education System
All International Students at Wanganui City College must be in Wanganui City College approved and supervised accommodation.
Secondary Schools in New Zealand primarily cater for students aged 13 to 18 (Years 9 to 13). They are called either Colleges, High Schools or Grammar Schools.
