Discover Student Leadership

Leaders are obvious by their actions, not just their words. At Whanganui City College, we can see that our local, national and international communities need people from all walks of life who will step up wherever they see a need, and take the lead.

We know that given the right opportunities, each of our students are capable of being innovative, creative problem solvers. Many of them come to us having taken on leadership roles at primary and intermediate schools and we look to extend this work. Taking ownership of problems and using a team approach to developing solutions, contributes to our students’ positive growth.

Apart from showing leadership within day to day courses, additional opportunities to get involved in, or aspire to include:

  • School Council
  • House Leaders for Pirani, Alexander, Braik and Rees houses
  • School Prefects and Heads of School
  • Student Representative on BoT
